Maïa Régis (b. 1995) is a French–Italian painter based in Palermo, Sicily. Her work merges figuration and abstraction in large-scale, colorful, layered compositions that navigate shifting cultural references, visual languages, and emotional states.
Pursuing visual rhythm, material intensity, and narrative ambiguity, her paintings unfold as vibrant, unstable terrains where images surface, dissolve, and reconfigure. Régis often works nomadically, gathering iconographic motifs from the places she moves through.
After receiving her MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art, London, in 2019, she established her studio in Palermo, in a historic Baroque palazzo in the heart of the Ballarò market. There, she draws inspiration from the city’s stark dialogue between the sacred and the rawness of urban life.
