Beyond the Present: Collecting for the Future presented a curated selection of 85 works from the collection of Christine Mack, assembled over more than two decades with a sustained focus on emerging artists.
Co-curated by Mack with Christina Strassfield, director of the Southampton Arts Center, and art advisor Natasha Schlesinger, the exhibition placed works by contemporary artists including Rashid Johnson, Austin Lee, and Rugiyatou Jallow in dialogue with seminal figures such as Keith Haring, Cindy Sherman, and Robert Rauschenberg. The exhibition also featured a dedicated presentation of artists from the Mack Art Foundation Residency.
More than a survey of a single collection, the exhibition reflected Mack’s commitment to supporting the young voices of our time. By presenting emerging and influential artists together, the exhibition demonstrated the role that thoughtful collecting and sustained support play in shaping the future of contemporary art.
