These Boots are Made for Walkin’
"These Boots are Made for Walkin', presented at Room57 Gallery in New York in fall 2024, was a cross-generational, multimedia group exhibition co-curated by Christine Mack and art historian and advisor Natasha Schlesinger, founder of Artmuse.
Taking its title from the 1966 Nancy Sinatra song, the exhibition celebrated women's autonomy and freedom of expression, bringing together iconic trailblazers, such as Françoise Gilot, Marilyn Minter, Cindy Sherman, alongside rising international voices including Samantha Rosenwald and Lovisa Skold. Spanning painting, neon sculpture, and ceramics, the works ranged from the whimsical to the poignant, each exploring women's independence and self-determination.
Among the exhibiting artists were several alumni of the MAF residency program, including Jen Dwyer, Megan Gabrielle Harris, Martine Johanna, and Melissa Ríos, placing these artists in direct dialogue with defining figures of the past century."
